The 2022 Buick Envision is a sleek, stylish, premium compact crossover SUV that’s every bit as impressive looking at it from the outside as it is when you’re sat on the inside. Whichever color or specification you go for, the all-new Envision is a vehicle you’ll always be proud to be seen in when traveling through Thornhill, North York, Markham, Richmond Hill, or anywhere in and around the Greater Toronto Area.
The compact philosophy also applies to the 2022 Envision range as the compact crossover SUV is currently available in three different trim levels, although these three distinct models do cover a relatively broad spectrum of prices and specifications. If you want a front-wheel-drive version of the Envision you are limited to just the entry-level Preferred trim level of the Buick crossover, but that’s not a hardship by any means as it’s still a very nicely equipped model. However, if you are happy with all-wheel-drive you can then add the mid-range Essence and top-of-the-range Avenir models to your list of available trim levels.
Under the hood of every 2022 Buick Envision is a 2.0-litre turbo-four engine that puts out 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque, which is then sent to the front or all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission. It’s not uncommon for crossover rivals of this size, and even bigger in some cases, to offer less power and torque than the Envision, so you know the Buick is going to be able to handle just about anything you’d reasonably ask of a vehicle like this.
The good news here is that you don’t pay a punitive fuel economy penalty for the extra capability of all-wheel-drive, which you’ll be pleased about in an Ontario winter. Front-drive versions of the Envision are understandably the most frugal with ratings of 10.0 L/100km in the city and 7.6 L/100 km on the highway, but AWD versions are rated pretty similarly at 10.5 L/100km in the city and 8.2 L/100 km on the highway.
You may well find compact crossover rivals that have cheaper starting MSRPs than the 2022 Buick Envision, but this is where buyers have to be savvy and look at what they’re actually getting for their money in terms of standard features and equipment. The entry-level Preferred trim comes with a complete set of power features, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, LED headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, cloth and synthetic combination leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and Bluetooth streaming and phone connectivity.
Every Envision also comes with the Buick Confidence Plus package of safety features as part of its standard specification. The suite includes the likes of Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Forward Collision Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, IntelliBeam auto high beam assist, Front Pedestrian Braking, Rear Park Assist, and Automatic Emergency Braking.
The 2022 Buick Envision is one of the most stylish and attractive vehicles in its class, and the impressive levels of quality and attention to detail continue when you get inside. The Envision can appear sporty and aggressive or subtle and premium, depending on how you configure it, so come and see which flavour suits you best with a test drive from Roy Foss Thornhill here at 7200 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON.
