Unless you want to be able to squeeze into the tightest parking spaces in Thornhill, North York, Markham, Richmond Hill, or anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area, you’ll struggle to come up with many jobs the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe can’t handle. With plenty of power, seating for up to eight with room to space, and the latest technology onboard, the new Tahoe is an impressive performer in any company.
The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe is now available in three new exterior colours, which are Silver Sage Metallic, Sterling Gray Metallic, and Radiant Red Tintcoat. A very stylish black grille option is also available for the 2023 model year, which also sees the traditional Bowtie logo dropped in favour of capital letters spelling out the brand name instead. You can now upgrade the Premier and High Country trim levels to include GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving feature.
The LS model that’s a favourite with fleets is still the entry-level trim level in the Tahoe family. However, retail buyers will likely start with the impressive LT or look even higher to the RST, Z71, Premier, or top-of-the-line High Country trim levels. The LS and LT models a rear-drive in their standard form with all-wheel drive available at extra cost. The RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country trims get all-wheel drive as part of their standard specification.
You might expect the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe to stick with a single engine across all models, but you have three excellent choices and difficult decisions to weigh up. The standard powerplant for all models other than the range-topping High Country is a 5.3-litre gas V-8 producing an impressive 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. That’s going to be more than adequate for many shoppers. However, a popular upgrade option is the second available engine, a mighty 6.2-litre gas V-8 providing the 2023 Tahoe with 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque available.
When you expect to regularly take advantage of the big Chevy’s impressive towing capability, the last of the three powerplant options is worth serious consideration. That third engine option is a 3.0-litre inline-six Duramax turbodiesel that provides the Tahoe with a relatively modest 277 horsepower but the same 460 lb.-ft. of torque as the 6.2-litre gas V-8. Every version of the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe sends its power to the rear or all four wheels through a standard 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Tahoe may be a traditional truck-based large SUV, but that doesn’t prevent it from boasting an impressive list of standard and available technology. Even the most affordable version of the Tahoe – the fleet-favourite LS – comes with standard Automatic Emergency Braking, Automatic Stop/Start, Hitch Guidance, and the 8.0-inch touchscreen Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The range-topping High Country trim level is as well-equipped as you’d hope, with standard HD Surround Vision, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and a rear camera mirror. It also features a large 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, a head-up display, a Bose 10-speaker Surround with CenterPoint audio system and heated and ventilated front seats as part of its standard specification. Although all models, including the High Country, feature generous standard specifications, all models also offer an extensive list of available options and upgrade packages.
The 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe is a competent, comfortable, versatile, powerful, and impressive full-size SUV.
