Anyone who needs a new vehicle to get up to seven people where they need to be in Thornhill, North York, Markham, Richmond Hill, or anywhere in the Greater Toronto Area is probably considering an SUV. But if you only occasionally need six- or seven-seat capability, do you need something as big and potentially expensive as a full-size model? In those circumstances, the 2023 GMC Acadia delivers seven-seat capability in a stylish, premium, and desirable package that can also be excellent value for money.
The 2023 GMC Acadia is available in four straightforward trim levels that cover a good range of specifications and cater to a relatively wide range of budgets. Nobody would try to claim a midsize model like the Acadia is as spacious as a full-size SUV or as flexible as a minivan, but the midsize GMC crossover is a stylish, premium, and desirable compromise for those who don’t transport six or seven adults regularly.
The first and most affordable model in the 2023 lineup is the SLE, and this isn’t one of those stripped-down, basic offerings aimed at fleet buyers with an artificially low price to use in advertising. Many potential owners will be delighted with the SLE standard specification, and there’s plenty of scope for higher specs for those who are happy to pay a little more. The model above the SLE is the SLT, and then there’s the AT4 and range-topping Denali.
Each of the four trim levels gets all-wheel drive as part of the standard specification, and it’s a system with a two-wheel drive model for saving a little fuel when all-wheel drive capability isn’t required. However, although all models get the same drivetrain with the power going to all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission, two engines are available for the 2023 GMC Acadia.
The standard powerplant for SLE and SLT models is a 2.0-litre turbo-four that produces 228 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. If you’d like a little more power under the hood of your Acadia, a 3.6-litre V-6 is available with 310 horsepower and 271 lb.-ft. of torque. The V-6 is standard with the AT4 and Denali versions of the Acadia, and it’s available as an option for the SLE and SLT trim levels.
All four 2023 Acadia trim levels have impressive standard specifications, and few people would be too disappointed with what they get with the entry-level SLE. The SLE goes well beyond the basics with 18-inch alloy wheels, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic emergency braking, an eight-way power driver seat, and a hands-free power programmable liftgate.
The SLE adds navigation, a premium Bose eight-speaker audio system, and perforated leather-appointed seat trim. The AT4 is next, with similar specifications to the SLT but off-road styling cues that look sensational. Finally, the lineup reaches a fitting summit with a Denali specification that lives up to its illustrious name with an 8.0-inch multi-colour reconfigurable driver information screen, heated and ventilated driver front seats, a head-up display, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, and more.
The 2023 GMC Acadia delivers an enticing blend of style, practicality, versatility, and premium appointments in a highly desirable package that can even represent superb value for money.
