Of course, you only consider buying a Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD if you want or need more power than a half-ton Silverado can deliver. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD is immensely capable, and the 3500 HD delivers almost ridiculous levels of towing and hauling capability when properly configured. Even so, both models feature the same standard and available engines.

The standard powerplant for both models is a 6.6-litre gasoline V-8 that develops 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft. of torque, which gets to the rear or all four wheels through an Allison 10-speed automatic transmission. The gas engine offers a maximum towing capacity of 8,686 kg (19,150 pounds), but plenty more power is available if you need it. That comes courtesy of the optional 6.6-litre V-8 Duramax turbodiesel, which brings a massive 470 horsepower and 975 lb.-ft. of torque to the party. With the correct configuration, a 3500 HD equipped with the diesel powerplant can tow up to 16,329 kg (36,000 pounds).

The exceptional capability of the Silverado HD has never been as accessible as it is with the 2024 Silverado HD, thanks to a raft of the very latest technology. Impressive digital displays are employed for operating the many features of the new Silverado HD. The infotainment system is available with a massive 13.4-inch touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch digital Driver Information Centre replaces traditional analogue gauges.
