Even though many people may be considering smaller vehicles with good fuel economy these days, many in Thornhill, North York, Markham, Richmond Hill, and the Greater Toronto Area still need something more significant with greater capability. And if you need to transport up to eight people and plenty of cargo in some comfort, nothing is bigger or does it better than the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban.
The 2023 Chevrolet Suburban is only available in a few different configurations than the trucks that share the same platform. Still, only some shoppers will be satisfied by the six fabulous trim levels and the options for customizing the Suburban to meet their specific needs. Even though most Suburbans get four-wheel drive as part of their standard specification, rear-wheel drive is available for those who want it with the entry-level LS and the LT trim levels. Four-wheel drive is an option for the LS and LT, but RST, Z71, Premier, and top-of-the-line High Country versions of the 2023 Suburban are exclusively four-wheel drive.
Although the immense interior space and capability of the 2023 Suburban necessitates a particular elongated, boxy silhouette, the designers have done a spectacular job of delivering a stylish and modern vehicle that’s very 21st century with crisp lines and sharp detailing, especially the imposing front fascia. The 2023 Suburban can offer several different personalities, depending on how you configure it, but every single one is big, imposing, and full of presence.
It’s easy to understand why car-like crossover SUVs are so popular with today’s new vehicle shoppers, but they can’t match a traditional ladder-frame SUV when it comes to durability and outright capability. Suppose you need rugged durability and the capability to tow up to 3,765 kg (8,300-pound) without breaking a sweat. In that case, the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban is the vehicle you need to meet the most demanding requirements.
The 2023 Suburban offers shoppers a choice of three engines. Below the range-topping High Country trim level, every version of the Suburban features a standard 5.3-litre gas V-8 engine that provides the mighty SUV with 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. The impressive output of the V-8 engine gets sent to the rear or all four wheels through an outstanding 10-speed automatic transmission in all circumstances. The RST, Z71, and Premier versions of the 2023 Suburban can also be equipped with a 6.2-litre V-8, and it’s also the standard powerplant for the High Country. The 6.2-litre V-8 produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. But if you’d like something a little more frugal on gas that still has that impressive towing capability, a 3.0-litre inline-six turbodiesel is also available for most trim levels. The diesel puts out 277 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque, and the only trim level it isn’t available with is the Z71.
When you get inside a 2023 Suburban, especially a High Country, you may be shocked to learn it doesn’t qualify as a bona fide luxury SUV. Despite that, you’ll struggle to imagine a feature that isn’t standard or available for the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. Even GM’s Super Cruise feature is available for the Suburban for the first time for the 2023 model year, which allows a limited degree of hands-free driving on designated highways. Super Cruise is available for Premier and High Country versions of the 2023 Suburban, and it shows how far this supposedly traditional large SUV has come in recent times.
Most retail customers will likely leave the LS trim to fleet buyers and start their 2023 Suburban experience with the LT trim level or higher. The LT upgrades you to a 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen instead of the base model’s 8.0-inch unit. You also get a 12.0-inch colour Driver Information Centre display and a nine-speaker Bose audio system. Of course, the High Country takes things to another level with standard heated and ventilated front seats, perforated leather upholstery, a 15.0-inch colour head-up display, the 6.2-litre V-8 engine, and plenty more.
You probably think you know what to expect from the 2023 Chevrolet Suburban, but this is a version of that legendary nameplate that exceeds expectations and takes it to another level of 21st-century technology and capability.
